Shifts in Shifts

Way back when we were having other work done, it was noted that #1 Son's vehicle needed more work. Because of the budget, it was decided to delay until around the first of June.

Well, it has come, and after checking with #1 Son and duly confirming he didn't need to go into work early, the part was ordered for the work to be done today.

We all know what this means, of course. A shift in shifts. When i reminded him to leave me the key so i could take it in, he said he couldn't. His schedule changed at the last minute, making it possible the car won't be finished before he goes to work.

That, of course, would require that we make a choice. We could either delay the work, not a good idea when you ordered the part, and don't want to be seen as a flake, and we want this done before vacation. The other choice is to trade vehicles, which is not to my liking at all when i have about 17 -- more or less -- errands to run and some of them involve taking boxes that won't fit in the car. Add the fact that his car is a trash pit, and i just don't want to take it because of that.

So, the crew at my local tire and minor repair place against the clock. We'll see who wins this round.
