Juxtaposition

Two news stories caught my eye.

First the sign of hate -- the shooting at the Sikh Temple.  A group who believe in peace, targeted for violence.

Second a sign of acceptance -- the picture of Saudi Arabia’s Wojdan Shaherkani competing wearing her hijab.  A compromise reached so she could honor her religious beliefs as she participated in the sport she loves.

We need more of the latter, less of the former.

Unfortunately, until we can outlaw stupid, we may not get it.

  3. I believe in the right to own weapons, but I don't believe anyone has a right to an assault rifle who's only purpose is to kill as many people as possible in the shortest amount of time.

  4. Stephen, i agree. A weapon should be for defense of your home if the police can't get there in time, or for hunting (if you hunt your meat, as many around here do). Nothing else.
