So i called...

...the lady about the kittens.

She was friendly enough, but she made it clear she does not like animals, and especially cats.  She was not willing to let the kittens stay so the mama could care for them for even a short time.  She does understand that the mama is likely to come into heat again very quickly, and will cooperate with trapping and spaying her so that this doesn't continue to happen.

They were not, as originally thought, about two weeks old.  They are about 2-4 days old, eyes closed, umbilical stumps attached.

There are five, and all appear to be female.  Two calico, a tortoiseshell, a tuxedo, and a tabby.

Snuggled in the carrier, and i'll try to get more pictures later.

Right now, i'm dealing with taxes so i can maybe get them done very, very soon.

  1. They're so young. If mama is caught, can she not be reunited with her babies ?

  2. Hilary, if we could catch her that soon. The problem is, they probably won't be trying until closer to Spay Day, at the end of the month.

  3. Such cuties, and so very young. They are certainly luckier than so many other feral kittens out there who aren't afforded the opportunities for a happy life that you can provide.

  6. Stephen, this way, they will have a very good life.

Hi, Momto8! Yes, i'll check your blog; with double the number of kids that i have, you probably have double the stories and double the fun.

Kathe, i bottle-raise them, as i've been doing with orphaned kittens for about 30 years.
